There is a high demand for top attacking talent amongst the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ – with Liverpool firmly in the mix.

There were big expectations placed on Arsenal heading into the current season but many questioned if the Gunners should have added a striker to their squad. In light of the North London outfit’s recent struggles in front of goal, that topic has emerged once again.

At Man United, a lot of faith has been placed on the young shoulders of Rasmus Hojlund, but the Danish star has failed to deliver in front of goal for the Manchester giants since arriving in 2023.

Liverpool have been the only club out of the ‘Big Six’ whose attacking options have been the most consistent this season. Darwin Nunez is the one who has noticeably struggled and therefore, it is not a surprise to see Nunez linked with a move away amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Omar Marmoush has been frequently linked with an Anfield move, but there is another closer to home that Arne Slot seems to be a fan of.

Liverpool among Premier League clubs monitoring Bryan Mbeumo

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Brentford’s Mbeumo since the end of last year with the Bees believed to be seeking a £50m transfer fee for the 25-year-old.

It is now being reported by RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins that Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are also monitoring the forward; however, none of the three have made an official move for the Cameroonian international, but that may come towards the end of the transfer window.

Mbeumo has been in top form for Brentford this season with the winger producing 13 goals and three assists across the 21 Premier League games he has featured in.

This form, alongside the 25-year-old’s versatility and age, makes the Bees talent a very attractive target for the big clubs in the Premier League.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has said ‘good luck’ to anyone trying to sign Mbeumo in January; however, with the winger out of contract at the West London club in 2026, this makes the 2025 summer transfer window the ideal time to sell the player.

Bryan Mbeumo vs current Liverpool forwards

When it comes to the Premier League as a whole, nobody is getting close to the numbers Mohamed Salah has been putting up as the Egyptian superstar has produced 18 goals and 13 assists across 20 league clashes.

It would be unfair to compare Mbeumo to the 32-year-old, however, the Cameroon international stacks up well against the rest of Liverpool’s forward options, despite playing in a weaker team.

Liverpool’s move for Mbeumo may hinge on the future of Salah should the Egyptian winger fail to agree new terms at Anfield.

The Brentford star would provide Slot with attacking output, and versatility, and is a natural replacement for Salah when it comes to penalty duties.
