Liverpool have been on quite the youth recruitment drive in recent years, with this streak unlikely to end anytime soon.

This summer saw Liverpool sign highly-rated youngster Rio Ngumoha after his departure from Chelsea, with the England youth international already impressing coaches at Anfield just a few months after joining the Merseyside giants.

With Barry Lewtas tipping big things for Liverpool teenager Trey Nyoni just one year after the midfielder joined the Reds from Leicester City, the Premier League leaders have done a good job at signing the biggest and brightest in the youth game in England.

And Liverpool could now be about to dip their toes into the international market.

Liverpool join race for AS Roma wonderkid Renato Marin

According to Tuttsport, Liverpool are interested in signing AS Roma goalkeeper Renato Marin, with Juventus and Olympique Marseille also keen on the Brazilian-born Italy youth international.

As per the report, Marin is considered by those in and around the Italian youth game as a ‘fantastic’ prospect, with the 18-year-old talent making Roma’s bench on numerous occasions this season in both Serie A and the UEFA Europa League.

Although Liverpool next season will have some of the best goalkeeping options in Europe with the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Marin’s long-term value could be of worth for the Reds if they were to pull the trigger for the Roma youngster.

Indeed, with Juventus interested in Marin and Marseille also tracking the youngster, Liverpool winning the race for the goalkeeper could be quite the coup for the Reds, especially with how promising the shot-stopper is.

Liverpool need to keep building for the future with young signings

Premier League teams are often at the forefront of signing the biggest and best young talents the world has to offer, yet Liverpool have been particularly efficient in their moves in recent years.

Harvey Elliott is perhaps the best example of Liverpool beating top clubs to sign one of the most exciting prospects in world football, with the midfielder now a regular for the Reds having joined as a teenager from Fulham.

And whilst Marin might need a longer journey to the top, the Italian talent is someone who could one day star for Liverpool if they can beat the likes of Juventus and Marseille to the teenager’s signature.
