Report: Liverpool scouts seriously impressed by £29m Brazilian who Arne Slot has already worked with

Liverpool are a tough nut to crack in the transfer market as they tend to keep their cards close to their chest.
No one heard a peep about Federico Chiesa before the deal to bring him to Anfield was at an advanced stage, which is a sign that they keep their cards close to their chest.
Liverpool’s attack is widely seen as their strongest suit – at least on paper – but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from linking them with a handful of players.
And now, if reports are to be believed, the Reds have received ‘positive feedback’ on a player who has already worked with Arne Slot.
Liverpool scouting Igor Paixao
With Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Dawin Nunez and Chiesa already at the club, the Reds are well-stacked in attack.
Nevertheless, in recent months, Omar Marmoush has been linked with a move to Anfield, while it has also been confirmed that Liverpool tried to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club in the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen if Slot bolsters his ranks up front, but if reports from Caught Offside are to be believed, Liverpool scouts have been really impressed by Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao.
The Brazilian is valued at around £29m and worked with Slot for two seasons at Feyenoord, so he’s someone the boss knows well.
The report also confirms that Liverpool haven’t yet made a move for Paixao, adding that the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on him.
Paixao’s stats this season
Paixao has been in fantastic form for Feyenoord this season and has already racked up 18 goal contributions in 24 games, which is a sign that he’s starting to produce the goods consistently.
Igor Paixao stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
Eredivisie | 17 | 4 | 9 | 1.376′ |
UEFA Champions League | 6 | 1 | 4 | 511′ |
Johan Cruijff Schaal | 1 | – | – | 77′ |
However, he has played most of his games this season as a left-winger and Liverpool already have too many players for that role, so it remains to be seen if they press ahead with their interest.
Paixao is a really interesting player and that price doesn’t sound too outrageous, but we can’t see this one happening unless there is a surprise departure in attack.
