Liverpool have put their recent blip behind them and come back strong under Arne Slot.

The Reds started the season phenomenally well, winning all three of their opening matches without conceding a goal.

But having surprisingly lost to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, doubts had been creeping in about just where Liverpool are in their journey under Slot.

Those questions have been answered with the Reds delivering impressive back-to-back wins against AC Milan and then Bournemouth. Things are back on track.

While this has understandably led to positivity on Merseyside about the season ahead, there is still a huge shadow lingering over whatever happens on the pitch.

That is of course the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. As another month ticks past, no resolution appears to be in sight.

Only Mohamed Salah pushing for Liverpool stay

At different points of the season, each of these three superstar players has been given the spotlight in regards to their contract renewals.

Right the now, the light is hitting Alexander-Arnold, who had some interesting things to say after Liverpool beat Bournemouth at the weekend.

Alexander-Arnold surprisingly spoke publicly about his potential extension, refusing to be drawn on whether he will still be at the club next season.

Salah had a similar flurry of headlines right at the start of the month, when the Egyptian spoke out following the 3-0 hammering of Man United at Old Trafford.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, has spoken openly a couple of times and insisted that no offer has been on the table from the Liverpool owners.

Obviously, the situation is causing plenty of worry amongst the fan base, with all three of these players still so integral to everything Liverpool do.

In an ideal world, supporters would love all three to sign on and commit to life at the club under Slot.

However, according to the Liverpool ECHO, it is only Salah who defnitely ‘keen to stay’ and work with the Liverpool head coach. It’s claimed that there is ‘more ambiguity’ over the intentions of both Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk.

Can Liverpool extend all three?

With September almost over, it is a little bizarre that the uncertainty over these three star players is still so complete.

Of course, it is not quite as simple as putting contracts in front of them all and having done with it. These things take time.

But the problem is that Liverpool are running out of time. They don’t have the luxury of being able to conduct negotiations on their terms.

As a result, we’d unfortunately have to say that the longer this goes on, the more unlikely it seems that any of these three – let alone all of them – will extend their stays at Anfield.

It would be impossible really for supporters to pick only one or two out of three, they really seem to come as a trio at this stage. If it is to only be Salah, though, it could be worse, but there’ll still be plenty of anger.
