Scottish media are all saying the same thing about the performance of Liverpool's Andy Robertson vs Greece

This season has been a tough one for Andy Robertson at Liverpool.
The left-back was a key member of the Reds’ squad during the Jurgen Klopp era, however, Arne Slot has not seen the best of the 31-year-old throughout the 2024/25 campaign as the defender has put in mixed displays.
With his contract at Anfield expiring in 2026, there has been doubt cast over his future. Robertson commented on Liverpool’s search for a new left-back in the build-up to Scotland’s match with Greece on Thursday night in the UEFA Nations League and the rumours may have fuelled him.
Steve Clarke’s team were victorious in Greece and Scottish media were all saying the same thing about Robertson’s display.
Liverpool’s Andy Robertson impresses with Scotland
Scotland’s match with Greece allowed Andy Robertson to move a step closer to Kenny Dalglish’s all-time appearance record for his country, with Thursday night’s game seeing the left-back move into third position on the list.
This is an incredible feat for the Liverpool star and it seemed that everything surrounding the game with Greece inspired the 31-year-old to put in a solid display.
Edinburgh News rated Robertson’s display against Greece as a seven out of 10 with the Scottish outlet saying: “The captain got up and down in the first half. Second half he had to defend and did that well.”
This was backed up by the Herald Scotland, who also rated their captain a seven out of 10, stating: “Got up and down the pitch well and had a decent game overall, but put in a couple of poor deliveries from corners early on.”
Robertson was one of several Liverpool players who needed a good international break and Slot will be hoping the defender can carry this with him throughout the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
Left-backs that could join Liverpool this summer
Liverpool are almost certain to sign a left-back this summer ahead of next season and the main target the Reds are continuously linked with is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
Jamie Carragher called for Liverpool to sign a left-sided defender who can play as a left-back and as a centre-back. Ajax’s Jorrell Hato gives Arne Slot this option and the Dutch defender would not cost as much as a player such as Kerkez.
Player | Games | Goals | Assists |
Andy Robertson | 39 | 0 | 1 |
Milos Kerkez | 32 | 2 | 5 |
Jorrell Hato | 42 | 3 | 6 |
Antonee Robinson | 30 | 0 | 10 |
Fulham’s Antonee Robinson has been linked to Liverpool for a long time but turning 28 this year, his age may work against him when it comes to the Reds recruiting for their left-back position.
Everyone at Liverpool hopes Robertson can turn his form around at Anfield and see out his current contract on a high. It does remain to be seen, however, if the Scottish star will be starting on Merseyside next season.
