Liverpool came from behind to secure a 3-1 win against Leicester City in what turned out to be an entertaining game of football on a foggy night at Anfield.

Jordan Ayew silenced the home crowd with a well-taken goal in the first half as the Reds failed to make it count in the final third.

However, goals from Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah helped them complete the comeback and go seven points clear of second-placed Chelsea, who lost 2-1 to Fulham earlier today.

And Salah has singled out his fellow Liverpool attacker for special praise for what he did against the Foxes.

While Salah and Jones scored in the second half to put the game beyond reasonable doubt, it was Gakpo who was Liverpool’s best player in the first half.

The Dutch international started in attack alongside Darwin Nunez and the Egyptian and was at it from the get-go as he kept driving at opposition defenders.

Gakpo scored a fantastic equaliser just before the interval with a curved finish from the edge of the area as the Reds deservedly drew parity at Anfield.

And Salah feels the Dutchman’s curling effort is something he practices a lot in the training ground.

“Great. It gives us confidence in the second half to go win the game,” said Salah via BBC when asked about Gakpo’s goal.

“1-0 down and you need to focus on equalising. He scored a great goal. It is something he practices a lot in training. It was a great finish from him.”

Gakpo’s stats vs Leicester

Gakpo was Liverpool’s best player vs Leicester and showed exactly why he deserved to start alongside Luis Diaz, who has also been in fine form for Liverpool this season.

He even scored a second goal after the interval, but it was chalked off as Nunez was adjudged to have been offside by VAR.

Gakpo is playing some of the best football of his career and his healthy competition with Diaz for a place in the team is bringing the best out of both players.
