Arne Slot has enjoyed a strong start at Liverpool after taking over the reigns from Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down after nearly nine years in charge of the club at the end of last season.

The German is undoubtedly the most important figure of Liverpool’s modern era and made the Reds a force to be reckoned with once again, winning seven major trophies including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The Dutchman has big shoes to fill, but judging by his first few months at Anfield, he’s more than up for the task and has proved he belongs at this level.

And Slot believes Klopp gave him an accurate account of Liverpool’s squad and the culture at the club before he replaced him at the helm.

Klopp had a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2026 but opted to walk away two years earlier, citing tiredness and his desire to spend more time with his family as pivotal factors behind his decision.

Liverpool quickly moved for Slot, who made a name for himself with his exploits in the Eredivisie with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, where he won the league title.

The Dutchman says he hasn’t been surprised by anything at Liverpool so far, adding that Klopp’s portrayal of the club has proved to be more than accurate so far.

"No, I haven't had any negative or positive surprises, I think,” said Slot on Stadium Astro’s YouTube channel.

“When I came here, people told me what I could expect, I did my own research, and it has been like expected.

“People gave me and my staff a real welcome, not only the staff over here but also the fans in the stadium. And the players did what Jurgen already told me – very positive group of players, very good culture, and, most importantly, a lot of quality."

Slot has the perfect platform to build on Klopp’s Liverpool legacy

Klopp awakened a sleeping giant in Liverpool and restored the club among Europe’s elite as his teams earned a lot of respect for their achievements and brand of football over the years.

Slot has inherited a group of players who competed for a quadruple until April last season and the Dutchman has opted to keep his squad intact, indicating that he’s got a lot of faith in the current crop.

Liverpool have secured nine wins in ten games across all competitions under their new manager and will look to give Arsenal and Manchester City a run for their money in the Premier League title race this season.
