Liverpool face Manchester United later today in what could be an incredibly entertaining Premier League match for the Reds.

Arne Slot’s side head into the tie in great form having won their last three league games, scoring 14 goals and extending their lead at the top of the standings to five points with two matches in hand after Arsenal’s draw against Brighton & Hove Albion last night.

With Manchester United losing five of their last six Premier League games under Ruben Amorim, there’s a real chance that Liverpool could enjoy another record-breaking win against their biggest rivals in English football.

Yet the weather could threaten to postpone Liverpool’s second match this season.

Anfield pitch looking fine amid Liverpool – Manchester United postponement talks

As per a video posted by journalist Vinny O’Connor, the pitch at Anfield has been unaffected by the frozen temperatures that have hit the United Kingdom over the weekend, with the issue for Liverpool being fan safety and travel to the stadium.

Public transport has been greatly disrupted after last night’s heavy snowfall, with a decision set to be made at 12pm today on whether or not the game will go ahead, something Liverpool’s squad will want greatly.

With Liverpool already last month’s Merseyside Derby against Everton postponed due to Storm Darragh, the Reds having a second match cancelled could play havoc with the playing schedule heading into the second-half of the season.

And with fans now sat nervously waiting on what will happen today, supporters will be hopeful that the game goes ahead, even with the weather arguably as bad as it was when Liverpool’s clash with Everton was called off last month.

Liverpool will be fuming if Manchester United clash is postponed

Liverpool fans were oddly relieved when last month’s tie with Everton was called off given how busy the December schedule was and how tired the squad looked heading into the final derby at Goodison Park.

Yet the same can’t be said for today, with United in their worst run of form in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and looking primed for another huge defeat with Liverpool finally finding their goalscoring stride beyond Mohamed Salah.

Indeed, today’s match being postponed will be a huge blow for Liverpool and their title chances, and fans will be hopeful that the game goes ahead with a decision now expected at 12pm.
