'Worried': Joe Gomez admits what Man City did during yesterday's game which made him nervous
Today at 07:00 AM
Liverpool made it 18 wins from 20 games this season with a comfortable 2-0 result against Manchester City at Anfield.
Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were the goalscorers on the night with the attacking duo putting Pep Guardiola’s side to the sword with a performance that made the reigning Premier League champions look ordinary.

With Liverpool now an incredible nine points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, the title is slowly becoming the Reds’ to lose, with no side coming close to competing with the Anfield side for the championship.
Yet Joe Gomez has admitted that one thing about City made him worried in yesterday’s game.
Gomez admits he feared Manchester City’s bench players
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the England international highlighted that he was worried about the players City were able to bring on from the bench as the game dragged on, with Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish just two of the options Guardiola was able to call upon.
Despite the immense quality City had at their disposal, Liverpool were able to contain the Manchester side with ease, with Troy Deeney praising Virgil van Dijk for his ‘masterclass’ of a performance at Anfield last night.
Yet even with the game playing out as it did, there was still a sense of nerves from Gomez in facing City’s world-class options, with the six-time Premier League champions currently in their worst run of form in over a decade.
Gomez said when asked if there was nerves: “I would be lying if there wasn’t. When we missed a few big chances and it was 1-0, it can change so quickly. The players they bring on from the bench, they can change it at any moment. I was a bit worried. When we got that second one, we were more relaxed.”
Liverpool are proving why they could be unstoppable this season
Even with the likes of Gomez having worries about what City’s players could do to Liverpool, the Reds showed last night why they could become unstoppable this season under Arne Slot.
The Anfield side top the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings, with Liverpool also looking likely to retain their League Cup title with City out of that competition already thanks to Tottenham.
And heading into 2025, Liverpool need to show that they can become the new best team in England, with City’s dominance seemingly coming to an end after a horrific start to the season under Guardiola.
