Aston Villa, Brighton and Manchester City send scouts to Portugal for big game – Eyes on 'potential reinforcements'

Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester City all had scouts in attendance for Sporting Club de Portugal's 1-0 win over FC Porto this week.
That's according to A Bola, who report that all three Premier League sides had a representative at the game in Lisbon for the Taça da Liga clash.
The newspaper makes no mention of any specific players being watched by Aston Villa, Brighton or Manchester City at the game, just that they all had a scout in attendance looking for ‘potential reinforcements’.
Those scouts watched as a Viktor Gyökeres goal in the 58th minute secured a 1-0 win for the home side in the game.
The newspaper reported that Sporting's players were undoubtedly the better on the night, with Gyökeres handed an 8/10 in the rankings alongside Geny Catamo, who provided the assist, and Ousmane Diomande. Porto's highest rated player was Galeno, who earned a 7/10.
Whether any of those three players will now be targets for Aston Villa, Brighton and Manchester City this month remains to be seen.
Diomande has been linked to City in the past, but the last of those reports was back in 2023 so it would be surprising if they were reviving that interest now.
Either way, they had a scout at the game alongside their Premier League counterparts, so it remains to be seen if anything comes of it.
