Manchester City have repeatedly been linked with a move for Torino star Samuele Ricci in the past few months.

In December, there was a claim that the Citizens will be able to pay the midfielder’s price tag, which is set at €35m. There is also said to be interest from AC Milan.

The 23-year-old starred for Torino in their hard-fought 1-1 draw against Fiorentina yesterday. After the game, he was directly asked about interest from Manchester City and Milan, as he continues to impress for the Turin club.

In response to the question, Ricci stated that he is focused on doing well for his current side.

He said, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb: “I don’t think about it, I’ve been playing for a while and I’ve learned to know the environment. When things are going well, comparisons arrive, it happened to me at Empoli too."

Ricci revealed that he is only thinking about improving on a daily basis.

"You have to keep your feet on the ground, there’s always gossip in the newspapers and on social media, one leads to another. You have to think about playing, having fun and improving day after day."

It is clear that the Italy international is not looking to get carried with the links to Manchester City.

He signed a new deal at Torino some weeks ago, but the Italian media don’t think that rules out a move.

While a summer exit could still be a possibility, Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to make moves this month to bolster their squad.

This could mean that Ricci ends up being a target in the summer and some of City’s issues in midfield get fixed in the next couple of weeks.
