Manchester United and Manchester City are chasing SC Braga’s Sikou Niakaté in the winter market.

The centre-back has been a regular since joining the Portuguese club initially on loan in 2022 and made 25 appearances in all competitions this season.

His performances have seen Manchester United and Manchester City both take noitce.

That’s according to Africa Foot, who say the Premier League duo are interested in the 25-year-old.

Manchester United’s scouts have been closely following the defender in the Europa League since last season and are monitoring his situation as they want to secure his services.

The report claims the Mali international’s profile has particularly attracted the attention of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City also appreciate him.

Ruben Amorim’s side and Manchester City are keen on the Braga star and Africa Foot state the two clubs would consider tabling offers for Niakaté in January.

There are other teams who have expressed interest in the player, but their details aren’t mentioned. Niakaté’s contract lasts until 2028, and the report states Braga are demanding €30m to sell him.

Manchester United are unlikely to submit an offer for Niakaté in January considering they have the centre-back position well covered and have other areas to improve.
