Manchester City could help Palmeiras in their ongoing pursuit of Fulham’s Andreas Pereira.

Earlier today, we covered claims from Brazil which stated Palmeiras have accepted a bid tabled by Manchester City for Vitor Reis.

Manchester City’s offer is said to be around €30-35m and Palmeiras can use some of it to sign the Fulham player.

Over the past few weeks, there’s been numerous claims about the Brazilian club’s desire to sign Pereira in January.

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has been speaking to the local media and her comments are relayed by Terra.

The club official spoke about Palmeiras’ desire to strengthen their squad with the 29-year-old in this window. The deal remains complicated mainly because of Fulham, who aren’t in a rush to make a decision on Andreas.

“Unfortunately, the timing isn’t the same as Palmeiras. I’m always in a hurry, you can’t imagine my day-to-day life. Sometimes things don’t go as quickly as I hope,” she said.

“It’s the difference between the corporate market and football. We’re interested in this player, we’d like him to develop, but it doesn’t just depend on Palmeiras. We’re fighting.”

The South American club’s president has refused to discuss figures but insists they will do everything they can.

Reis’ sale to Manchester City will certainly boost Palmeiras’ finances and they can use part of the money to improve their offer to Fulham.

“We’re doing our best. I’m not talking about values,” Leila Pereira explained.

“Whatever is possible, up to a limit, we will achieve. He’s a great desire of ours. I’d like this to be resolved as soon as possible.”
