The front page of Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport has Marcus Rashford splashed across the front page as a move to AC Milan becomes a bigger possibility.

Last week, we covered claims from Italy which presented the Rossoneri as perhaps the likeliest destination for the Manchester United player, and since then the situation has grown.

To get down to the details, Gazzetta dello Sport present the situation regarding wages. The Serie A club could pay – and this is the Italian newspaper speculating – around €5m gross for the player’s wages until the end of the season on a loan deal.

This would require Manchester United to make a contribution and/or the player to reduce his income. Gazzetta point out players are always extremely reluctant to do the latter.

Generally, the potential loan to AC Milan can be organised in one of two ways.

Manchester United are said to want a permanent move and it’s made clear that’s highly unlikely. Should the player move on loan with a purchase option then an agreement would need to be made on what happens regarding his salary from next season onwards.

That would be a very complicated negotiation, and it’s pointed out that a dry loan, which would see Marcus Rashford return to Manchester United in the summer and any further Milan move needing fresh negotiation, would be a much easier deal to do this month.

Sporting CP’s Francisco Trincao is seen as an alternative.
