Manchester United are in a dire state in the Premier League and this is not even up for debate.
Thus, the January transfer window provides them with an opportunity to reinforce in positions that they deem necessary to put up a fight in the second half of the season.

However, the issue for the Red Devils is that they are not in a position where they can make signings without making sales. They spent quite significantly back in the summer and that seems to be coming back to bite them in the present.
Still, they are linked with players in the transfer window and as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are preparing a shock move to sign Liverpool striker, Darwin Nunez.
Now, honestly, this is a shock because of two main reasons: The Uruguayan plays for our arch rivals and well, he has done no better than the strikers we have at our disposal.
Nunez is not good enough for Man Utd
Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool has hardly taken off since his transfer from Benfica and it makes absolutely no sense for Man Utd to go from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee to the Uruguayan number nine.
More so, considering the fact that he is a Liverpool player, Man Utd should not even be looking at this signing.
One must also add here that he is valued at around £85million, and he is not worth the fee having netted only 2 goals in 15 PL games this term.
There is also interest from Saudi in Darwin Nunez and this could just be an effort from his agents to drum up interest in their player.
Man Utd do need a striker who can score goals regularly, which they have lacked to do so far this season.
However, Darwin Nunez is anything but that. He is as inconsistent as they come and although he might have the potential to become an elite striker at some point in his career, currently, he is not even close to that level.
