On Friday, we covered claims from the media close to Real Betis which stated the La Liga side remain interested in signing Antony this month and the Manchester United player is ready to leave Old Trafford.

That wasn’t the first claim about Betis and Antony, with it previously being reported the club would wait until the end of the window to try and secure a loan for the Brazilian.

To secure a move this month, which would have to be on a loan basis, Los Verdiblancos would need Manchester United to continue to pay a chunk of the player’s wages.

The claims continue on Saturday, with ABC Sevilla reporting the loan move is ‘getting closer’ after Real Betis took a step forward.

Betis are said to be determined to get a deal done and ‘intensified negotiations with Manchester United in the last few hours’.

The Spanish club have already made two formal offers for Antony. ABC Sevilla report the process goes on, with Betis wanting to share the salary and Manchester United wanting a commitment Antony will actually play so his market value can be recovered.

There’s confidence at Betis that manager Manuel Pellegrini can get the best out of Antony, and the talks continue between the two clubs.
