Borussia Dortmund have now added their name to the mix of Marcus Rashford's potential January suitors, according to transfer expert David Ornstein.

Indeed, last year's Champions League finalists are in a race with Juventus and AC Milan to try and add the outcast forward to their ranks before the February 3 deadline – ideally on a loan deal until the summer.

It remains 'plausible' that Rashford stays at Old Trafford, though when he'll be restored to Ruben Amorim's side remains to be seen. He has not featured for the club since December 12 and was only named in the matchday squad to face Newcastle United last week due to suspensions for both Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte. The following match at Anfield, he was again omitted altogether.

The 27-year-old, previously hailed as 'unstoppable' by ex-manager Erik ten Hag, has recorded seven goals and three assists in the 24 matches he's played this term. Three of those goals came in the six appearances he made under Amorim – prior to his exile.

Rashford is contracted to United until 2028, having signed a lucrative five-year deal after his career-best 30-goal campaign in 2023 that resulted in him being made one of the side's highest earners on £325,000 a week.

Previous reports have claimed a move to La Liga is seen as something of a dream destination for the Carrington graduate. Yet, with Barcelona seemingly endlessly navigating a precarious financial situation and Real Madrid fully stacked to the brim with world-class attacking talents, Rashford will have to turn his attention elsewhere.

It'll be intriguing to see if a loan comes to fruition, whether there's an option or obligation to buy included in the prospective terms. When Jadon Sancho had been completely banished from all first-team action last season before completing his mid-season switch to Dortmund, United opted against giving them the chance to make it permanent.
