Bournemouth end worst streak in English football and Arsenal get small consolation as Man City suffer shock defeat

Bournemouth ended their dismal, historic run against Manchester City by claiming a shock 2-1 win over the champions.
The Cherries hadn’t won any of their last 20 league games against City before Saturday, drawing two and losing a whopping 18.
It's the most one side has faced another without ever winning in the history of the English Football League and Premier League.
Bournemouth had also lost all 11 Premier League games against teams starting the day top of the table, the worst 100 per cent such loss rate in the competition's history.
However, Andoni Iraola’s side brought these streaks to an end with a surprising yet deserved win against the reigning champions.
It also delivered a small consolation for Arsenal, who lost to Newcastle earlier in the day.
With City losing for the first time this season, the Gunners’ record as the only team ever to go a whole Premier League season unbeaten (2003/24) is set to remain in tact for another term.
Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the ninth minute having turned his man and fired in past Ederson.
Evanilson added their second moments after the hour mark by sending Milos Kerkez’s cross into the bottom corner.
City reduced the deficit with eight minutes left to play thanks to a header from Josko Gvardiol.
However, it wasn’t enough for Pep Guardiola’s side as they fell to their first Premier League defeat of the season.
It has also seen them end a run of their own as they had won all 14 of their Premier League games against Bournemouth by an aggregate score of 45-7.
This was the best 100 per cent record any team set against another in the history of the English top-flight.
City’s dropped points has also seen them fail to capitalise on Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle earlier in the day.
Victory would have taken them eight points clear of the Gunners at the end of the day but this gap has remained at five.
They have also been knocked off the top of the table by Liverpool, who came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield.
Bournemouth on the other hand have won against a traditional top six side for the second time this season.
It has followed their victory over Arsenal on their return form the October international break and puts them eighth in the table.
Iraola’s side are just three points outside of the top four and two off the European qualification spots.
