'Everyone knows' – Sean Dyche left baffled as Everton are denied penalty against Newcastle

Sean Dyche struggled to hide his frustration after Everton were controversially denied a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Newcastle.
It was the Magpies who had the chance to score from the spot in the first half when James Tarkowski grappled Sandro Tonali and brought him down in the area.
Anthony Gordon stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by Jordan Pickford, leading to wild scenes of celebrations from the Everton fans and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Moving into the second half and Everton had a penalty shout themselves with Dominic Calvert-Lewin going down after a collision with Dan Burn.
The Premier League’s match centre clarified the decision not to give the Toffees a spot kick, saying: “The referee's call of no penalty for the challenge between Calvert-Lewin and Burn is checked and confirmed by VAR – deeming that Calvert-Lewin kicked the back of Burn's leg.”
But responding to the decision post-match, Dyche made it clear that he wasn’t happy.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Newcastle’s penalty, Dyche said: "I haven't really spoken to him about it properly but you can't be bringing people to the ground like that, we know that.
"Jordan's done great and done his homework with a good save.
"Then we don't get one. Everyone knows our record of not getting penalties and we haven't got one again so we are left frustrated by that.
"He's trying to finish it – the ball is there to be finished and he's trying to finish it and there player interrupts the ball.
"Let's put it this way – an easy way for people who want to listen – if that's in the middle of the pitch do you think it's given as a foul?
"Because I think everyone would say absolutely, 100 per cent but we can't get penalties – we know that. We hope we do moving forwards.
"They didn't have a look at it which is frustrating. You go over to the little screen, I don't know why and everyone knows what's going to happen – you give it for them and he did.
"It was a penalty though because you can't do that in the box."
With one win to their name, Everton sit in 16th position in the Premier League table.
Their next clash is a trip to face Ipswich Town on Saturday, October 19.
