Barry Ferguson urges Rangers to sign 'arrogant' playmaker with seven-figure valuation

Rangers used to be the place where up and coming Scottish players went, however, unless they are signed at a young age, the likelihood of the next Kris Boyd appearing in a Light Blue shirt appear slimmer by the year.

Philippe Clement has enough on his plate as manager, but one of the main player trading aims laid out by Nils Koppen is being neglected.

There is a shortage of domestic talent in the team with the hottest prospect in the SPFL being Lennon Miller, not that Rangers can afford him given his £8m price tag.

Rangers urged to sign Lennon Miller

At 18-years old, Miller is already Motherwell's captain, leading them out against the Ibrox outfit at Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

A trait shared by Barry Ferguson, who, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, reckons that he would be a dead cert to improve Clement's starting XI:

"Personally, from the Rangers side of things. He walks straight into the Rangers team," said the Gers Hall of Fame legend.

“He’s looks a very level headed young man. I have seen him do a couple of interviews and he’s got a wee bit of arrogance but in a good way. He believes in his own ability and I think you have to have that if you want to play at the top level. He certainly has that in abundance.

“For me, I see the reason why Celtic and Rangers would be desperate to sign him. But I think just now, he stays at Motherwell until the end of the season.”

How much would it cost to sign Miller?

The HMS Miller ship has well and truly sailed already. Rangers have made a rod for their own back with the £16m deal that saw Nathan Patterson move to Everton.

The fee being quoted might be £8m, but the Steelmen could easily charge double that to any potential suitors from the top five leagues.

Rangers had the right idea raiding Motherwell's youth team a couple of years ago, unfortunately, it looks like they picked the wrong midfielder.
