Oliver McBurnie insists that he would one day love to play for Rangers.
But if the Las Palmas frontman is to make his way to Ibrox eventually, he could have to take a detour through England from the Canary Islands.
Oliver McBurnie has contributed in Spain with La Liga club Las Palmas this season, where the 28-year-old is competing alongside ex-Rangers frontman Fabio Silva.
But the former Sheffield United hitman's spell on the continent could be a brief one as reports gather surrounding a surprise switch back to England.
This comes just months after McBurnie proudly announced that he wants to sign for Rangers.
Oliver McBurnie linked with return to UK
Oliver McBurnie does have a positive reputation in England and there's a reason why Sheffield United paid £20m to sign the striker from Swansea City in 2019.
But over the last few seasons a combination of injury and a lack of consistent form have contributed to McBurnie's profile dwindling south of the border.
Now, after only six months in Spain, reports in England are suggesting that Oliver McBurnie is turning heads in the Championship ahead of the January window.
The Sun report that both Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are keeping tabs on McBurnie and will look to strike a loan deal with Las Palmas in January.
McBurnie knows what it takes to navigate the tricky latter half of a Championship campaign and this experience could be crucial in the final furlong.
Scotland striker 'wants to play for Rangers'
Oliver McBurnie has previously suggested that he would relish the opportunity to move to Rangers.
Following the release from his contract at Bramall Lane, McBurnie claimed that 'Rangers is a special club' and that he would like to turn out at Ibrox at one stage in his career.
Claiming the situation is all about timing, McBurnie nails his colours to the mast and as a result, Rangers fans tend to keep a close eye on developments with the striker.
"Listen, Rangers is a special club," McBurnie said in May.
"Have you ever been to the Old Firm? I've been to plenty of Old Firms and I've never experienced a game like it, either playing or watching.
"Most people who have ever been to them will say the same.
"Growing up, I was always a big Rangers fan and it's something I've always wanted to do. It's just about timing.
"I hope one day, by the end of my career, I play for Rangers. I hope I get to experience that side of it.
"If I don't, I don't. But I hope by the end of my career I can say I've played in an Old Firm at one point.
