Josh Windass nets stunning goal from own half

Josh Windass has gone viral for the stunning strike from his own half against Derby County in the English Championship.

The former Rangers attacker let rip from inside his own half after spying Derby County goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström off his line during a breakaway.

The stunning effort rasped into the back of the net, with Josh Windass scoring for the fifth consecutive Championship match for the Hillsborough outfit.

The goal also means Josh Windass now has 10 strikes for the season with the victory lifting Sheffield Wednesday up to 9th in the Championship table.

Ex-Rangers striker focused on technique

Josh Windass has also been speaking about the stunning strike at full-time and the ex-Rangers star insists it was all about the technique.

Speaking to SWTV, Windass claims that when he seen the goalkeeper was off his line it was all about focusing on hitting the strike correctly.

"Nothing really," Windass told SWTV when asked what was going through his mind when he took the strike.

"Smudge just flicked it around the corner and I just thought I've not been on long so I'm not going to run any further.

"I was quite cold so I just hit it and it just went in.

"As soon as I seen the keeper off the line I knew I could reach so it was just hit and get the technique right.

"Soon as I saw the keeper was nowhere near his goal I just thought, if I get the technique right he's getting done in here.

"Obviously when I found out I wasn't playing I was thinking, could my run end today?

"I came on at halftime, obviously the gaffer made a decision not to play me, so you just got to dust down and get on with it, carry on."
