Rangers director of recruitment Nils Koppen has pledged to bring at least one top Scottish talent to Ibrox per season.

Whether it's in the academy or in the first-team squad, the Belgian recruitment guru has claimed that Rangers need to become the go-to place for the best young Scottish players.

Urging Rangers to become far more 'aggressive' in their recruitment from around the nation, there is gold in Scottish football and the Gers are determined to dig it up.

But ahead of the January transfer window, reports suggest Nils Koppen risks sleeping on not one but two young stars who are being tracked in the Premier League.

Nils Koppen pledges Scottish transfers

Nils Koppen has previously put recruiting top young Scottish talent at the top of the Ibrox side's revamped recruitment model.

In a 14-point transfer plan, the ex-PSV chief claimed that the club are on going to keep an 'eye on Scottish academies and talents'.

Expanding on this in a later interview, Koppen claims that it is one of the Ibrox side's 'objectives' to snare the best young players in the country.

"We have to be aggressive in the youth market to try to get the best young players in the country and keep investing in that," Koppen said in October.

"Because the strong core of Scottish players should come from your own academy. And sporadically, you buy somebody from other clubs, like with Connor Barron.

"It's one of our objectives, to try and sign one player a season from another Scottish club if they're there and the deal makes sense and it fits the plan."

Rangers sleep on Premier League-linked duo

Whilst most of the Scottish transfer attentions are focused on Lennon Miller, there are another two young prospects making waves north of the border.

According to the Sun, Premier League duo West Ham and Southampton are tracking Airdrie twins Cole and Dylan Williams.

Both 16-year-olds are midfielders and are free to leave the Diamonds given they are on short-term agreements in North Lanarkshire.

Both Cole and Dylan Williams have been in the Airdrie matchday squad for three matches this season but are yet to make their debuts for Rhys McCabe's side.

Having joined the Scottish Championship outfit after leaving Old Firm rivals Celtic, the two players have also been linked with a return to Parkhead.

But it's West Ham and Southampton who are said to be leading the chase for Cole and Dylan Williams as they scour the Scottish market for young talent.

Whilst we expect that Rangers are aware of both players, as of yet Cole and Dylan Williams haven't even been mentioned in Ibrox dispatches.

If the two players really were at the top of their level in Scottish football then surely Nils Koppen and Rangers would be at the forefront of any negotiations.
