January transfer ‘silly season’ has begun and will no doubt continue to ramp up.

As ever, Rangers will be and are being linked to a number of players as Philippe Clement looks to improve his squad and therefore the team’s fortunes.

Likewise, current Ibrox stars will move out as there is always a need to balance the books and also ensure you don’t end up with a bloated squad.

Already a number of Gers players are being mentioned for transfers elsewhere.

Ianis Hagi is back in the Rangers team and performing since sorting out his stand-off with the club.

But he could still move on to pastures new with a number of clubs interested and Genoa said to be "very close" to taking him to Italy.

Ridvan Yilmaz is reportedly being lined up by Trabzonspor, ironically as a replacement for former teammate Borna Barisic.

The left-back has had a stop-start Ibrox spell due to injuries and it could be a chance for the club to cash in and for him to get a fresh start.

Cyriel Dessers could well check out too after Hamza Igamane and Danilo overtook him in the food chain.

Dessers was being linked to Saint-Etienne, although their new manager Eirik Horneland played down those suggestions.

Alex Lowry and Adam Devine are set to leave Rangers after failing to break into the first team.

Both are keen to move on in search of more minutes and the club are willing to let that happen.

In recent days, another young player has been linked with a move away too.

Rangers’ Robbie Fraser linked to Portsmouth

Young left-back Robbie Fraser was reported to be on the brink of a switch to Pompey for £200,000, with the Daily Record quoting sources down south.

The Championship side are battling relegation back to League One and expected to be busy in this window.

Left-back was thought to be one area targeted and Fraser was strongly linked, with suggestions the transfer was close to happening.

The 21-year-old has appeared for 15 minutes in the Premiership this season after playing five times during the previous campaign.

Jefte has been the first-pick at left-back and even Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury hasn’t seen Fraser get much minutes. Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo have also been used in the position.

However, Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has poured cold water on the links to Fraser.

Asked by BBC Radio Solent, he said: “No, nothing in that, nothing in that.”

Pompey have Connor Ogilvie as their first choice left-back and he has returned to form recently after tough start to the season.

Jacob Farrell is nearing a return from injury to add some competition.

So, while the Championship strugglers will be active in the window, it appears a move for Fraser is not in the offing.
