Patrick Stewart breaks Rangers silence as he takes aim at SFA over penalty incompetence

Rangers will want to put the Premier Sports Cup final behind them except the small matter of a refereeing controversy refuses to go away.

Willie Collum has been conspicuous by his absence as he buries his head in the sand looking to avoid the sort of scrutiny that he used to face as a match official himself.

New CEO Patrick Stewart has started work at Ibrox and sacking the manager has been replaced by taking on the SFA after telling Rangers TV what he has done about it.

Patrick Stewart demands SFA answers in first day at Rangers

Disappointed that Rangers couldn't secure the league cup, Stewart informed fans he has contacted the SFA and that he isn't letting the incident involving Vaclav Cerny lie:

“The match with Spurs really showed Rangers going head-to-head with a top Premier League side and it was a match we all felt we should have won,” Stewart said when asked about the current performance of Clement's squad.

“The performances in the SPFL have been really positive, we are scoring, not conceding, of course the Cup Final – I don't want to dwell on it again, but it could have been such a memorable day.

“We have a lot to be positive about. The manner in which we lost was hard to take, and as I think people will know, I have spoken with the SFA to ask for an explanation about the non-awarding of a penalty in extra-time, so I will wait to hear what the SFA have to say about that."

Are the SFA trying to cover something up?

Why is it taking the SFA so long to explain why VAR didn't inform John Beaton that Liam Scales had fouled Cerny inside the box?

In no way should it take more than three days for an announcement to be made given the high profile nature of the game.

All Collum has to do is speak to Alan Muir and Frank Connor, who were on VAR duties, and then listen to the audio from the game.

If a mistake has been made then transparency is the only way to avoid conspiracies, but as every day passes, it looks more and more like the SFA has something to hide.
