Porteous transfer latest as EFL interest firmed up amid Rangers links

The Ryan Porteous to Rangers links are certainly very interesting.
This is a player who had a very frosty relationship with the Ibrox faithful when he was at Hibs, which spilled over on more than one occasion.
Rangers were previously thought to be interested in Porteous when he was leaving Easter Road in a cut-price deal in the January of 2023, in advance of his deal expiring that summer.
It was Watford who snapped him up and the Scotland defender started well in the English Championship, with Gers told they had made a mistake in not jumping in to sign him ahead of the Hornets.
The 25-year-old went on to establish himself as a national team regular, although he hasn’t featured much in recent games after being sent off against Germany at Euro 2024.
He now appears to be slipping out of favour at Watford too despite making 20 Championship appearances this season, an unused sub against Sheffield United at the weekend.
That opens up the possibility of a potential exit, with a report from Fuusball Europa suggesting he is not happy at his current club.
Porteous suggested for Rangers
Former defender turned agent, Craig Moore, has insisted that Rangers will be looking at Porteous as they look to sign centre halves.
An injury crisis, with John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Dujon Sterling all struggling, means they are in desperate need in that position.
Porteous is one of the names being mentioned and it all seems to have stemmed from the comments from Moore.
"He knows the domestic game inside out, he said on the Go Radio Football Show.
"If he is not playing at Watford. Look, those type of players are certainly one to consider for me. If they are not getting game time down south. Not a bad option at all. We know he would be absolutely fine up here.
"He's not going to run into anything that he isn't aware of. He's seen it and experienced it. Naturally left-sided I am sure and quite physical. He will be one of a few options I am pretty sure Rangers will be looking at."
Hull looking at Porteous
Hull were looking at Porteous previously when he was still at Hibs.
And it has again been claimed they are interested again, with those rumours swirling alongside the Rangers ones.
There had even been some suggestions an offer had been made to their Championship rivals, but Hull Live have clarified the situation.
They appear to play down any suggestion and official bid has been lodged but insist Porteous is a player the Tigers “like.”
