Rangers fans are celebrating all over the country after the Ibrox side dumped Celtic in latest instalment of the Old Firm derby.

Hamza Igamane might've been criticised by Barry Ferguson at full-time but the Moroccan hero is the toast of Glasgow after scoring a late winner at Parkhead.

It's Rangers' first Old Firm victory on enemy soil since 2020 and Celtic legend Neil Lennon branded the Gers 'outstanding' for a monumental first-half performance.

James Tavernier was forced to apologise for some exuberant Rangers celebrations and one of the Ibrox skipper's former teammates has now been clipped joining in.

Calvin Bassey celebrates Rangers win over Celtic

There are few players who come through the doors at Rangers and don't wind up being bitten by the Ibrox bug.

Calvin Bassey is a cult figure amongst the Rangers support for his combative and quality performances en route to Seville and the Europa League Final of 2022.

Bassey banked the Gers £19.6m when he moved to Ajax the following the summer and now find himself turning out for Premier League outfit Fulham.

Whilst Rangers were playing Celtic at Parkhead, the Nigerian international defender was playing in a derby clash of his own as Fulham took on Tottenham.

Bassey played the entire match as Fulham ran out 2-0 winners in London and there was extra cause for celebration come full-time.

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge was clipped with the 25-year-old outside Craven Cottage with Bassey reacting to the Gers result by raising his fist and saying 'come on boys'.

Calvin Bassey on Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ibrox

Calvin Bassey has previously discussed the role that Giovanni van Bronckhorst played in helping him make the grade at Rangers.

The former Ibrox defender might now be pulling up trees in the Premier League but had it not been for the Dutch coach, then things might never have turned out that way.

In an interview with the Athletic, Bassey claims Gio had the 'trust' in him to go out and play his game and hailed the Dutchman for bringing calm to Ibrox.

The former Gers hero has also paid tribute to Ibrox Stadium, claiming he's yet to come across somewhere quite so intimidating since.

"What a guy — from the first game Gio said, 'Calvin, you're playing'," Bassey said in 2023.

"He said he trusted me, he knew I had some things to work on but he wanted me to go out and enjoy it. He didn't make me stronger or faster, he just gave me confidence.

"We were losing 1-0 to Leipzig after the first leg of the semi-final and we (the Rangers players) were arguing, but then he came in so chilled.

"He said, 'Calm. We're going to see them at home'. Ibrox was our fortress. We could win any game.

"I've played at a lot of grounds now but none are as loud or intense. Not a lot of players have experienced it so they can be rattled, no matter who it is."
