Rangers know that when it comes to the English Premier League there is no way that the club can compete financially.
Over the last few decades, the English top flight has developed into the richest league in football with global TV money and the world's biggest stars and managers flocking to England.
It's a big change from the days of Rangers competing with EPL clubs for signings and now the Gers are reshaping themselves as a springboard for top talents to make the leap down south.
For Rangers, it's about buying young, developing players in the Ibrox pressure cooker and selling them on for big profits.
And now, with one young talent reportedly capturing admiring glances south of the border, a team of would-be Premier League suitors are set to be boosted by American billions.
US billionaire takes over Everton
American money has been flowing into English football for the best part of the last decade with Everton now the latest club to be subject to takeover from a USA consortium.
The financially challenged club have just announced a takeover from the Friedkin Group, who have purchased a 94% controlling stake in the Merseyside outfit.
After posting £430m in losses over five years and subsequently receiving points deductions in the Premier League, the ill-fated reign of Farhad Moshiri is now over.
The last few years have been defined by expensive signings which never quite paid off at Goodison Park and repeated managerial overhauls.
Now, the Friedkin Group will look to take a more considered and successful approach as they breathe new investment into Everton.
The investment group has interests across the adventure, sports, entertainment, hospitality, and automotive industries, with Friedkin the owners of Serie A side AS Roma.
According to Forbes, the group's chairman Dan Friedkin is worth a remarkable £5.3bn and Everton will hope to see some if transform their fortunes down south.
Rangers striker wanted in Premier League
After seeing the club's assets stagnate following a run of expensive sales, Rangers are back to square one and rebuilding a young squad with plenty of potential.
Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey raised in the region of £40m between but they are anomalies and not the rule at Rangers. This has to change if the club is to reach its potential.
As part of that, Rangers are scouring emerging markets with the purchase of Hamza Igamane from Moroccan outfit FAR Rabat the best example from a summer of change.
That deal has even led to suggestions Rangers are to strike a partnership deal in Morocco with FAR Rabat to get a foothold in the North African country.
Hamza Igamane's form has reportedly turned heads in the Premier League, with several clubs mentioned as suitors.
Amongst them are now US billionaire backed Everton, the Toffees reportedly watching Igamane score against Tottenham Hotspur at Ibrox in the Europa League.
Given Igamane's impressive progress in such a short period, Rangers will hope to bank big when it comes to the striker.
But it's a question of timing – something Rangers haven't always got right in recent seasons – as they look maximise returns on their £1.7m investment.
If Everton, US billions and the Premier League come knocking then Rangers fans know that money talks.
