West Brom and Sheffield United remain keen on Tom Cannon with Leicester City holding a recall option in his Stoke City loan, as per reporter Alan Nixon.

West Brom and Sheffield United are both hoping to fight for promotion to the Premier League this season and they’ve started well.

With the second international break upon us, the Baggies and the Blades sit 4th and 2nd respectively. Chris Wilder’s side are the only unbeaten side left in the Championship and would be top had they not started the season on minus two points.

Both have strong squads but there’s little doubt that they’ll be out to strengthen further in January.

Now, it is claimed that summer target Tom Cannon remains on the radars of West Brom and Sheffield United. The striker joinedStoke City on loan but writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon states parent club Leicester City have a recall clause and could trigger it if the chance to sell him arises.

A loan with an option to buy is possible too, but the Foxes hope to get a hefty £10m for Cannon.

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

Looking to hit form

Cannon’s four-goal haul in the 6-1 rout against Portsmouth shows just what he can do at Championship level and why the likes of West Brom and Sheffield United are still tracking his situation.

He hasn’t found the back of the net in his other four outings, so the 21-year-old will be keen to get on a streak in Stoke City colours. If he does, Leicester City’s chances of selling him will likely grow.

Cannon was a hit on loan in the Championship while with Stoke City but game time was limited at Leicester last season.

This year is a chance to remind everyone what he can do in the senior game after leaving the Everton setup.

A needed addition?

West Brom already have a leading talisman in Josh Maja, who sits atop the Championship goalscoring table alongside Norwich City winger Borja Sainz.

A bit of support for him might not go amiss but they have Daryl Dike on the comeback trail.

Sheffield United seem likely to have a look at signing a striker this winter though. Kieffer Moore joined in the summer but hasn’t hit goalscoring form while Tyrese Campbell and Rhian Brewster are the cover and competition.
