Andy's Player Ratings: Sunderland 2-2 Plymouth - Bottom side take a point at the SOL
01/25/2025 12:04 PM
Sunderland chucked away a much-needed three points in a poor performance at home against Plymouth. Here's how Andy rated the Lads…
Anthony Patterson: 6/10
Got away with a poor clearance early on, after the Plymouth player fired his shot right at him. Unlucky to see the first goal squirm underneath him and no chance with the second.
Trai Hume: 8/10
Provided an assist after picking out Isidor with a cross for the first goal, then scored the second himself after a great touch and finish from Roberts' cross.
Chris Mepham: 6/10
Some poor passing today, a lot of balls into the channel that went nowhere near the runner. Defended fine but not his best game.
Luke O'Nien: 6/10
Some lovely balls played over the top to Le Fee in the first half but never looked comfortable defending.
Dennis Cirkin: 6/10
Not much to do defensively but had a few half chances to score, one of which was potentially going in if it hadn't hit O'Nien's back.
Dan Neil (C): 6/10
Played in a more advanced role today but other than a good shot from a knock down in the first half didn't really shine.
Salis Abdul Samed: 6/10
Sat in front of the back four and kept the ball ticking to either side, nothing flash but more minutes in the legs for him.
Jobe Bellingham: 6/10
Got around the pitch but no cutting edge and struggled to impact the game.
Patrick Roberts: 6/10
Not an awful lot from him from open play today with Plymouth sitting so deep but got an assist for Hume's goal after picking out the player from a free kick.
Enzo Le Fee: 6/10
Bright in the first half, with some dangerous set pieces, almost scoring from a corner after a Plymouth player just about deflected it wide. Made some good runs early but there was no-one on the end of his crosses and tired after the break.
Wilson Isidor: 6/10
With the visitors sitting in so much for most of the game, we just couldn't get Isidor into the game. Thankfully he buried his one chance, with a great first time volley from Hume's cross.
Substitutes
Eliezer Mayenda: 5/10
Some really poor decision making late on, completely mishit a good opportunity to win it and then decided to send in a looped header when he was well placed and unmarked.
Dan Ballard: 6/10
Came on and made a couple of clearances, also just missed a cross into the Plymouth box.
Chris Rigg: 6/10
Tried to make an impact after replacing Roberts and played a nice ball through the lines to Hume, unfortunately Mayenda ended up spurning his chance.
Leo Hjelde: 5/10
Came on late on and didn't close down the cross that led to the equaliser.
Man of the Match: Trai Hume
Some very subdued performances from the team today but our standout player throughout was Hume. Got a goal and an assist but also got up and down the line all afternoon, almost provided a winner too but for Mayenda not making the most of the pass.
