Tottenham Hotspur's underwhelming campaign has sparked growing uncertainty over Ange Postecoglou's future.

With the club looking to make significant improvements next season, they have been linked with several managerial targets to replace Ange. Andoni Iraola is the one linked the most as well as Brentford's Thomas Frank. Another name to have now been linked with the job is former Barcelona player and manager, Xavi Hernandez.

A crucial figure who could help make this move is ex-Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici, who Daniel Levy is looking to re-appoint following the end of his suspension.

Club insider backs Tottenham to appoint Xavi with the help of Fabio Paratici

Club insider John Wenham has suggested that Paratici's strong connections in European football could be invaluable in setting up talks between Spurs and Xavi.

The Italian previously played a major role in bringing Antonio Conte to North London, a move that initially seemed far-fetched.

Given his extensive footballing network, Paratici could once again be the driving force behind another high-profile appointment.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

"Xavi would be someone I would look to contact.

"If Spurs have any sort of ambition, that is the calibre of manager we should be going after. I understand you need the contacts to help make it happen.

"However, Paratici managed to attract Antonio Conte, which didn't seem possible at the time. I'm sure he could help Tottenham get a meeting with Xavi.

"Look at what Xavi did with Barcelona, with so many restrictions against him. It was incredible. He brought through a lot of young players and gave the likes of Lamine Yamal a platform to perform. Therefore, he is someone I'd be asking the question of."

Xavi would be fantastic signing for Spurs

Xavi's managerial background makes him a compelling option for Tottenham. He began his coaching career at Al Sadd, securing seven trophies before returning to Barcelona as head coach in 2021. Despite operating under financial difficulties and a restricted squad, he led the club to a La Liga title in 2022–23, as well as a Supercopa de España triumph.

His ability to nurture young talent is another factor that could appeal to Spurs. This aligns with Tottenham's long-term vision of developing young prospects into elite-level performers.

For now, Postecoglou still has a chance to secure his future at the club, but that hinges on winning the Europa League—an extremely tough challenge.

Should Tottenham decide to move on, landing Xavi, with Paratici's help, could send a strong message about the club's ambitions moving forward.
