Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen.
The 22-year-old defender is a target for Bayer Leverkusen and Leicester City as well. According to a report from Messaggero Veneto, The, 22-year-old defender will be made available for a fee of around €16.5 million this month and the Italian side will not stand in his way if the right offer is presented.
Spurs certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an official proposal to sign the player.
They need defensive depth and Kristensen could prove to be a quality long-term addition. He could develop into a key player for the club with the right guidance. Tottenham are struggling with injury problems right now and they need more depth in their squad. They have been quite mediocre during the first half of the campaign and they need the right additions to get their season back on track over the next few weeks. Signing a quality defender should be one of their priorities.
The 22-year-old defender could be attracted to the idea of joining the North London club. It would be a major step in his career and he would get to test himself in the Premier League. He will be able to compete alongside top-class players at the London club as well. Playing alongside Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will certainly help him improve as a player.
The reported asking price is quite reasonable for a talented young defender like him, and he could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can grab the opportunity and get the deal across the line.
