Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their preparations for the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen key areas of their squad.

One position the club is keen to reinforce is left-back, and Wolves' Rayan Aït-Nouri has emerged as a serious target for Spurs.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have entered the race for the Algerian defender, joining the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United in pursuit of his signature.

However, securing Aït-Nouri's services will come at a steep price. As per the report, Spurs have been told that they will have to pay £40 million to secure the signing of the Wolves fullback.

This comes after it was reported that the club had made a £30m bid for the left-back which has reportedly been turned down by the Premier League club.

It now appears that Spurs will now have to come up with a revised offer if they want to sign him.

The 23-year-old, who has less than 18 months left on his contract, is currently valued at €35 million.

His performances in the Premier League have made him one of the most sought-after left-backs in English football, with several clubs after him including Liverpool.

Aït-Nouri's journey at Wolves began with a loan move from Angers in 2020. He made an instant impact by scoring on his Premier League debut in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Following a successful loan spell, Wolves made the deal permanent in 2021 for £9.8 million.

Since then, he has established himself as a key player, with notable moments including scoring the winner in Julen Lopetegui's first game as Wolves head coach and making his 100th competitive appearance in February 2024 against Chelsea.

This season, Aït-Nouri has been a regular for Wolves, contributing four goals and five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

Tottenham's renewed focus on the left-back position comes amid Destiny Udogie's inconsistent form and fitness concerns. While Djed Spence has been deployed as a makeshift, Spurs are actively seeking a long-term solution.

With multiple top Premier League clubs monitoring Aït-Nouri, Tottenham face stiff competition. However, his attacking prowess and ability to operate as a wing-back make him an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou's system.
