Tottenham are reportedly prepared to extend the contract of their captain, Heung-min Son, keeping the South Korean star at the heart of their squad until 2026.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spurs intend to activate an option in Son's current deal, which is set to expire next summer.

This decision reflects the club's commitment to retaining their talismanic forward, with discussions since October pointing firmly in this direction.

Reporting for GiveMeSport, Romano stated:

"The expectation is still to activate the option and keep Son at the club until June 2026. That's the internal feeling at the club since October, waiting for formal steps as it's always important."

The 32-year-old has been an irreplaceable figure in Tottenham's attack, particularly after Harry Kane's departure last season.

Combining leadership with consistent performances, Son has become a cornerstone of Ange Postecoglou's team.

Under Postecoglou's management, Son has thrived as the focal point of Spurs' attack, netting 24 goals and 16 assists in 56 matches across all competitions. Despite the team's struggles this season, his ability to inspire moments of brilliance has been vital in maintaining Spurs' competitiveness.

Son's association with Tottenham began in 2015 when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £22 million, setting a record as the most expensive Asian player at the time.

Over the years, he has cemented his status as one of the Premier League's elite players, clinching the Golden Boot in the 2021–22 season and becoming the first Asian player to score 100 Premier League goals.

This season, Son's influence has been undeniable, with standout moments like his audacious goal directly from a corner in the thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarterfinal this month. Beyond his on-field contributions, Son's leadership and deep connection with fans have solidified his legacy as a club legend.
