TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Aston Villa have enquired about Sevilla’s Loic Bade with talks for Oscar Mingueza having stalled.
Unai Emery is looking to bring a new defender to Villa Park this month as Diego Carlos looks set to depart the club.
The Midlands club have Bade and Mingueza in mind, but their attention seems to have turned to the latter having had difficulties negotiating a deal for Mingueza.
Aston Villa make Loic Bade enquiry
Aston Villa have started talks with Sevilla over a deal to sign Loic Bade and the Spanish club are open to taking Diego Carlos in return, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
Bade is contracted with Sevilla until 2029 and has a release clause of £42 million, Villa’s sporting director Monchi brought him to the club in January 2023.
In terms of a deal for Mingueza, Villa had been making progress, however, Celta Vigo are now demanding his release clause of £16.7 million is met.
Talks between the Villa and Celta are not over yet, but Villa have started looking at alternatives and Bade is a player they are now working on.
Bade and Mingueza are different players with the Frenchman being a central defender, meanwhile, Mingueza is a full-back who can also play as a winger.
Diego Carlos to make Sevilla return?
Villa are making room for a new defender by allowing Carlos to join Fenerbahce and talks continue with his deal moving closer with Jose Mourinho pressing hard for the deal.
However, as part of their talks for Balde, Sevilla have also asked about the possibility of re-signing Carlos having sold him to Villa back in 2022.
Villa want to land a right-sided defender this month having already bolstered their left-sided options with the signing of Turkish teenager Yasin Ozcan.
The 18-year-old will move to England in the summer, staying with his current club Kasimpasa until the summer.
