TBR Football have received news on whether Tim Steidten will stay at West Ham to work with Graham Potter after Julen Lopetegui was sacked.

After nine defeats in 20 games this season left West Ham 14th in the Premier League – despite almost £150m worth of summer signings – the Hammers have now decided to part ways with the Spaniard.

An official announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon, with Graham Potter ready to replace Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

There is – however – an elephant in the room in the shape of Tim Steidten.

The German – who is Director of Football at West Ham – and Julen Lopetegui endured a breakdown in their working relationship in east London before the latter was dismissed, leading many to wonder whether he too will be sacked.

TBR Football have now received information on the matter.

Graham Potter and Tim Steidten prepared to see if they can work together

Sources have now informed Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – that West Ham are planning to keep Steidten around, but he remains under pressure.

Potter, who Karren Brady pushed to hire, is not believed to have asked for the 45-year-old to follow Lopetegui out of the exit door, and is willing to see if they can work productively together.

Since arriving at West Ham in July 2023, Steidten has overseen the permanent signings of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Andy Irving, Max Kilman, Niclas Fullkrug, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean-Clair Todibo, Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Guido Rodriguez and Crysencio Summerville.

Loan deals for Kalvin Phillips and Carlos Soler have also been carried out by the German.

In sacking Lopetegui just 191 days after hiring him, the Irons have actually broken a club record.

It signals the shortest reign of any permanent manager in West Ham’s history.

Potter will likely know how Lopetegui is feeling, having only lasted 206 days at Chelsea himself, and West Ham will hope the 49-year-old can use that tough experience to succeed in east London.
