Walsall manager Mat Sadler has confirmed that he and other club officials are exploring the possibility of adding a free agent to his squad following a raft of injury issues.

The Saddlers will be without central defenders Donervon Daniels, Oisin McEntee and Priestley Farquharson for at least the next few weeks, with the gaffer open to adding cover to his side as they look to continue their strong start to the campaign.

Walsall reach this weekend's League Two meeting with Milton Keynes Dons on the back of three wins in four league games and with a shoot-out EFL Trophy win over Birmingham City to build upon.

Speaking to George Bennett of the Express & Star, Sadler said: "Oisin will be out for a month which is unfortunate.

"There are a load of free agents out there and it would be amiss of me not to be looking. Ben Sadler and the chairman would back me if we felt that was the right thing to do.

"So we'll see but we're gutted to lose Oisin, be without Donervon and of course Priestley. As I said, Oisin and Donervon are not long-term so they're kind of the medium to short-term ones.

"Fingers crossed we won't be without them for too long but it's something I'll be looking at. We'll see if we think there's something there. If there is, there is. If there isn't, there isn't."
