Watford FC’s Academy is looking to recruit host families to support young players aged between 16 and 21.

The Academy has more than 150 young players within the structure and some of these stay with host families, allowing them to take the opportunity of full-time employment at the club as either an apprentice or professional player.

The club is therefore looking for families who can provide a room (per player) during the week in either a six-night per week or seven-night per week agreement.

In providing a suitable and safe environment, the club is looking for hosts in central Watford and the St Albans or London Colney areas.

Transport is provided by the club for players in our Under-18 squad, while members of the Under-21 squad are required to make their own way to and from training.

As part of the recruitment process, the club follows fostering regulations. This includes the completion of several visits to determine the suitability of a location, and to ensure the home meets the requirements for hosting a young player.

This role will have regular contact with children and it is therefore required by law to have an Enhanced DBS Criminal Record Check for all house occupants aged 18 and over.

The club may also carry out other background checks.

The club takes its responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable groups seriously, and all placements would be subject to risk assessments.
