News: Abdi To Be Special Guest Against Norwich

Watford FC is delighted that former Hornets favourite Almen Abdi will be returning to Vicarage Road for this weekend’s clash with Norwich City (Saturday February 1, 12.30pm KO).
The popular midfielder has not been back to the club since his departure for Sheffield Wednesday in July 2016.
Abdi, known for his outstanding ball carrying and striking ability, will be the special guest for the game and will take part in a pitch-side chat at half-time.
Nicknamed ‘The Professor’, Abdi first joined Watford on loan from Udinese in July 2012.
He scored on his league debut – a 3-2 away win at Crystal Palace – and ended with 12 for the season including a superb free-kick against Wolves.
His performances in his first year were enough to see the Swiss international scoop the club’s Player of the Season award, with his loan move quickly being made permanent.
The 2013/14 season was to start with frustration, however, as a foot disorder kept him out of action for much of the campaign.
In April 2014, Abdi scored in a 3-0 win over Leeds when making his first league start for seven months, and he netted in a 2-2 draw away at Millwall in the next game too.
Abdi then played a key role in the 2014/15 side which gained promotion to the Premier League, scoring nine goals including memorable doubles against Huddersfield Town and Fulham.
He scored crucial goals in away wins at Reading, Bolton and Nottingham Forest, and then played for the Hornets in the top flight in the following season.
Looking forward to seeing you, Almen!
