Watford FC Women will return to action tomorrow when they host AFC Wimbledon in the rearranged FA Women’s National League South fixture at Grosvenor Vale (October 30, 7.45pm KO).

The Golden Girls did not play over the weekend as their away match at Gwalia United was postponed due to international call-ups in the Welsh side’s squad.

Renée Hector’s Golden Girls will be hoping to bring forward the momentum from their dominant cup win over QPR to respond to the 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United last time out in the league.

How The Land Lies

Watford currently sit seventh in the National League South, 12 points off current league leaders Hashtag United with three games in hand.

The defeat to Oxford marked the first time this season the Golden Girls had conceded at Grosvenor Vale, winning four of their five matches at home in 2024/25.

Wimbledon's record of three wins, two draws and two defeats is identical to the Hornets, but their shock cup exit to QPR coupled with postponements means they haven't been in action for two and a half weeks.

Having won promotion last season, the side have taken no time in adapting to their higher division, earning an impressive 4-1 victory over fourth-placed Exeter City in late September.

Pre-Match Chat

Golden Girls Head Coach Renée Hector has spoken to watfordfc.com before the clash, with her side in the unusual position of facing AFC Wimbledon in back-to-back games.

After tomorrow night's league clash, Watford will travel to Plough Lane to face the same opponents in the first round of the Women's FA Cup on Sunday (November 3, 2pm KO).

“You’ve got to be ready for every single game,” Hector said.

“Each team brings their different challenges and no doubt Wimbledon will bring challenges of their own.

“Obviously it’s a game we want to go and win. We’ve got them twice in a week so that will be interesting to see how the teams try and suss each other out over the next few days.

“We might see a few changes but we’re going to try and go as strong as we possibly can.

“We need to pick up points in the league as we’re a few games behind, so it’s really important we go into tomorrow fully competitive and trying to get the three points.”
