Arteta: 'Partey is fantastic'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta recently expressed that he has no problem in making use of Thomas Partey in different positions and believes that the Ghanaian is more than capable of performing at right-back.

With the London-based giants thin on personnel in the right-back position, Partey was often instructed to fill in for the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White in defence.

Partey recently featured at right-back during Arsenal's 1-0 defeat against Newcastle in the Premier League, a game in which Arteta came under much scrutiny for his use of the African star in an unfamiliar position. However, Arteta is of the thought that Partey did not struggle against the Magpies.

"I'll need to make that assessment once I have more clarity about where he struggled but I don't have the impression he struggled much," Arteta said, as per Modern Ghana.

"Every time we have a situation with Thomas playing a different position because we don't have another right-back at the moment.

"We're always going to have that debate and Thomas is fantastic."
