CAF charge Zamalek and ban two players

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed several of fines on the Egyptian giants Zamalek and suspended two players.

Nasser Mansy and Mahmoud ‘Shikabala’ Abdelrazek Fadlala have been suspended for three games due to a provocative gesture that violated disciplinary codes during last month’s CAF Super Cup which saw Zamalek defeat Al Ahly on penalties.

The CAF Disciplinary Board has now decided to ban Mansy and Shikabala, and imposed a fine of $10,000 on each player. Furthermore, Zamalek have been fined $300,000 for the inappropriate conduct of its team and officials according to the following statement:

The CAF Disciplinary Board met to deliberate on several matters. Below is the summary of the Disciplinary Board decisions.

CAF Super Cup: Zamalek FC

CAF charged Zamalek FC and Zamalek FC players Nasser Mansy and Mahmoud Abdelrazek Fadlala with misconduct following incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup fixture between Zamalek and Al Ahly in Saudi Arabia on 28 September 2024.

CAF Disciplinary Board decided:

To suspend Zamalek SC player Nasser Mansy, for the next three (3) CAF club inter-club competition matches for a provocative gesture in violation of article 147 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
To fine Nasser Mansy, 10 000 USD.
To suspend Zamalek player Mahmoud Abdelrazek Fadlala, for the next three (3) CAF inter-club competition matches for unsporting conduct in violation of article 82 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
To fine player Mr Mahmoud Abdelrazek Fadlala, 10 000 USD.
To fine Zamalek SC 300, 000 USD for the improper conduct of its team and officials. USD 100 000 of the fine is suspended on condition that Zamalek SC is not found guilty of a similar offense during the 2024/2025 CAF Inter-Club Competition.
