Ligue 1 pay tribute to Simon

Nantes winger Moses Simon has been recognised by Ligue 1 for achieving a new club milestone in the 1-1 draw with Angers on Sunday.

The Nigeria international made his 150th appearance in the French top flight for the Canaries at the Stade Raymond Kopa, where he set up Johann Lepenant for the opener after just 18 minutes.

It was Simon’s 29th assist in a yellow shirt, eclipsing the tally set by the late Emiliano Sala, who tragically died in a plane crash at the age of 28.

The 29-year-old winger has made an impressive start to the 2024-25 season, registering two goals and two assists in five games for Antoine Kombouare’s side.

Ligue 1 paid tribute to Simon on Tuesday by labelling him “indispensable” in a post on social media platform X.

The GBS Academy youth product has been at the Stade de la Beaujoire since August 2019 when he initially arrived on loan from Levante before making the move permanent the following year.
