Arsenal are in contact with Nico Williams' entourage about a move in the summer, potentially ruining Bayern Munich's hopes of getting the 22-year-old La Liga star.

That's according to journalist Christian Falk and BILD, who both cover the situation today, with the German journalist claiming Arsenal are making moves.

Falk reports that Bayern are interested in Williams, who has a release clause in his current contract worth €60-80m.

Their efforts to sign him could be scuppered, though, as Arsenal are also in the mix and in contact with the player's management about a move.

BILD go a little further, explaining that while Williams is at the top of the wish list at Bayern, the club have put a stop to purchases until they can make sales. They would also like to sign Florian Wirtz, who is likely to cost at least €100m.

Thus, any move for Williams will have to be put on the backburner until they can move players on, namely Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman or Serge Gnabry, who are all yet to impress but earn big wages.

That could leave Arsenal with a free run at Williams should they wish to take it, and talks are on with his entourage, although that big release clause may cause problems of its own.
