Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi has emerged as a target for Arsenal, according to a report from Italy.
The 24-year-old impressed for the Serie A side last season, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 34 goals from 32 games. He extended his fine form into this season, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding 23 goals from 22 matches.
Corriere dello Sport state the goalkeeper is having an ‘extraordinary’ season that hasn’t gone unnoticed, and their title says Arsenal are after him.
In fact, the report states it’s ‘inevitable’ that big clubs like Arsenal are showing interest in the Italian.
The Gunners have already monitored him closely, while the stopper is also an option for Paris Saint-Germain.
Among the interested parties, Corriere state Mikel Arteta’s side are the ‘most interested’ team.
World Soccer Agency manage Carnesecchi and their client list includes Riccardo Calafiori, who joined Arsenal from Bologna in the summer window.
The newspaper says the Premier League side have ‘excellent relations’ with the stopper’s agent, which could give them an advantage in the transfer race.
Atalanta haven’t set a price tag, but Corriere say they would need at least €40-50m to sell him.
Carnesecchi’s contract lasts until 2026, without a renewal option, La Dea may be forced to lower the asking price next summer.
