Arsenal were one of several sides to send a scout to watch Porto take on Olympiacos in the Europa League this week.
That's according to Record, who report that Arsenal and a whole host of other clubs from across Europe had someone watching the game.
According to the newspaper the Gunners were there alongside six other Premier League sides, Marseille, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting Club de Portugal and Vitoria Guimarães also sent representatives.
Record make no mention of who the various clubs may have been there to scout, just that they were in attendance.
Those watching saw a 1-0 win for Olympiacos thanks to an Ayoub El Kaabi strike in the 79th minute. He was among the top performers in the game, according to Who Scored, but it was 18-year-old Christos Mouzakitis who came out on top with a rating of 7.87. He also bagged the assist for the goal.
That's particularly interesting for Arsenal as a report last month stated that they were trying to get ahead of the competition to sign the midfielder.
They had reportedly been keeping a close eye on his development in Greece and were eyeing a move for him and teammate Charalampos Kostoulas before any competition got there first.
With Jorginho and Thomas Partey out of contract in the summer, perhaps this scouting trip to watch the youngster is part of their long-term planning. If it was, then he chose a good time to put on a big performance for his side.
