Jorginho is waiting for Arsenal's new director of football to be signed and announced before deciding his future as rumours continue about a move to Flamengo.
That's according to GOAL Brasil, who report that the player and his staff are waiting for a meeting with the new director of football before deciding their future.
Jorginho has been linked with a move away from Arsenal for months as his current deal is set to expire in the summer and he's free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs around the world.
A move to Brazil has been touted, with Flamengo currently at the front of the queue and the Brazilian club continually commenting on the possible move for the veteran midfielder.
Jorginho poured fuel on the rumours today as he was pictured arriving in Rio de Janeiro, with claims that he is just on a vacation not calming matters down. That came after reports his agents were set to meet Flamengo about him.
GOAL now provide their take and insisting that despite the euphoria, there has been no progress in negotiations between the various parties and no pre-contract will be signed.
The player and his team are awaiting the appointment of Arsenal's new director of football to debate his future. They want to arrange a meeting with that man, believed to be Andrea Berta, before deciding on anything.
The big issue blocking a move to Flamengo is a current loyalty bonus he'd get from Arsenal, which he wants to be compensated for because he'd have to end his contract early to sign for Flamengo in time for the Club World Cup.
He wants anyone who wants to sign him to pay that loyalty bonus, so he does not miss out. Until then, Jorginho and his staff want to wait until a new DoF is appointed to discuss the issue with him. After that, they will listen to counterproposals potentially from Flamengo.
