Newcastle United and Arsenal now lined up for €50m+ battle with Bayern Munich

Thursday’s edition of A Bola has Ousmane Diomande splashed across the front page, with a claim Bayern Munich have now moved into the picture to sign the Sporting CP player.
Within the article, interest from the Premier League is once again mentioned, with Newcastle United, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool named.
The front page simply says ‘Bayern want Diomande’, and it’s claimed the Bundesliga club could advance for a move this month. Bayern are said to have contacted Sporting to try and find out the conditions for a deal, and now they’re preparing a proposal which it’s thought will reach the Portuguese club in the next few days.
Bayern Munich had wanted to wait until the summer to make their move, but it’s explained they’re concerned about competition from the Premier League and that’s encouraged them to hurry.
Newcastle United and Arsenal are the clubs who have been linked most over the past year. Eddie Howe’s side had a scout recently watch Sporting, just earlier this month. In October it was reported Arsenal were the strongest club in the pursuit of the player and there’s been several further reports since then.
The 21-year-old has an €80m buyout clause, although it’s thought a deal in the region of €50-60m would be accepted.
That still feels potentially high for the central defender, especially after period of inconsistent form at the start of last year, something Arsenal and Newcastle United will be aware of.
