Former Claret Erik Pieters has today signed what has been described as a short term deal with Luton, returning to the Championship at the age of 36.

Moving from Stoke, he was a Burnley player for three years, from the summer of 2019 to the end of the 2021/22 season, making 56 league appearances for us and netting two goals in his ten cup games.

On his release, he signed a two-year contract with West Brom which came to an end last summer. He trained with Luton in pre-season and has now signed this deal for them with manager Rob Edwards explaining: "Erik is a hugely experienced left sided defender who we know well after training with us this summer.

"With one or two of the issues that we've got at the moment, we feel that Erik will be able to help us during this period. It may not necessarily be with game time. It could mean help with training and if gets an opportunity then it's down to him.

"He's a good guy, very experienced and can bring balance to our defensive options during this difficult period with the injuries we have."
