Quick return for Langford

Oliver Langford refereed our recent win against Stoke at the bet365 Stadium, and he’s back with us again tomorrow for our game against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Tomorrow will be the West Midlands official’s twelfth Burnley game and it has to be said there have been some dreadful performances in the previous eleven, none more so than his first Burnley game at Doncaster in 2011 and, more recently, our 2-1 win at Swansea in the first game of 2023.

Having said that, he had a good game at Stoke recently and all we can ask for is him refereeing tomorrow's game every bit as well.

Since the Stoke game approaching four weeks ago, he's only refereed once, that was the televised game between Derby and Portsmouth which Derby won 4-0. It was his thirteenth game of the season with all but one in the Championship, the exception being a League Cup tie between Chelsea and Barrow.

His total of yellow cards in those thirteen games is 45 with 18 going to home team players and 27 to away team players. The only player carded in that last game was Portsmouth's Tom McIntyre.

The fourth official tomorrow is a new name to Burnley. Ollie Yates will be on the touchline. He's been refereeing in the Football League since the 2016/17 season but hasn't, as yet, been given a game in the Championship.
